Description

A timeless example of Swiss watchmaking, this vintage Longines Flagship combines understated elegance with the classic proportions of a traditional dress watch.

Dating to 1975, this refined piece features a silver vertically brushed sunburst dial, complemented by applied faceted baton hour markers, gold-tone hands and the iconic Longines winged hourglass emblem. Its slim profile and warm gold-plated case make it an elegant choice for both formal occasions and everyday wear.

Inside is the Longines calibre 847.3 manual-wind movement, which has been serviced, cleaned, lubricated and regulated, a slim Swiss manual-winding movement that combines traditional mechanical craftsmanship with an elegant, low-profile design befitting a classic vintage dress watch.

The watch retains its signed Longines crown and original signed gold-tone Longines buckle. It is fitted with a replacement red leather strap, adding a distinctive touch to its classic styling.

The gold-plated case displays signs of age and previous wear, including areas of plating loss consistent with a watch of this period. The watch has retained its vintage character, offering an authentic example of traditional Longines design.

As with any vintage watch, there are signs of age and use. Please refer to the photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description.

Furthermore, vintage mechanical watches require delicate care and handling when winding the movement, setting the time and operating the crown. The crown and stem can be particularly delicate and should never be forced.

About

Founded in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, in 1832, Longines has built a distinguished reputation for precision, elegance and traditional Swiss watchmaking. With a rich heritage spanning nearly two centuries, the brand has become renowned for producing timepieces that balance technical expertise with timeless design. The Flagship collection was introduced in the 1950s and became an important part of Longines' identity, representing the brand's commitment to refined, understated watchmaking. Its name reflects the collection's position as a showcase of Longines' craftsmanship, with elegant dials, carefully proportioned cases and dependable mechanical movements. More than simply a vintage dress watch, the Flagship represents an important chapter in Longines' history, a time when elegance, precision and craftsmanship were at the heart of Swiss horology. Today, these vintage examples continue to appeal to collectors who appreciate authentic design, heritage and the enduring charm of a beautifully proportioned mechanical timepiece.

What's Included

Original box and papers are NOT included. As with many vintage timepieces, these original accessories have often been lost over the decades. If a watch is supplied with its original box, papers, or additional accessories, this will be clearly stated in the listing.

Care

As a vintage mechanical timepiece, this watch should be handled with care and kept away from water, steam and moisture. Avoid exposure to shocks, strong magnetic fields and extreme temperatures, and never force the crown or controls. When not being worn, store it in a clean, dry environment. Due to the age and delicate nature of vintage mechanical movements, regular professional servicing is recommended to maintain reliable performance and longevity. This timepiece has been carefully preserved for over 5 decades. Vintage mechanical watches require delicate care and handling when winding the movement, setting the time and operating the crown. The crown and stem can be particularly delicate and should never be forced. Although some vintage models were originally rated for water resistance, no vintage watch sold by The Vault & Time Collective should be considered water resistant. We recommend treating all vintage timepieces as non-water-resistant unless otherwise explicitly stated.
